Making Selma was a powerful experience for director Ava DuVernay and her stars David Oyelowo, Common, and Carmen Ejogo. As if telling the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s civil rights march in Alabama wasn't enough, creating Selma also afforded the opportunity to work alongside producer and actress Oprah Winfrey. David, in particular, was thrilled to come together with the "incredible" Oprah - who he also calls his "American mum"!
